Shoppers soon will be able to build their own Baby Yoda.

Build-A-Bear announced Tuesday that Baby Yoda is coming soon to its stores nationwide.

Sharon Price John, Build-A-Bear’s CEO, revealed it would release the toy at the ICR 2020 Conference in Orlando.

“I’m excited to share that we will be one of the first companies to be able to provide the new digital and internet phenomenon, who actually is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined,” John said. “If any of you has seen ‘The Mandalorian,’ we now will have The Child, also known as Baby Yoda.”

No date for the release was available Tuesday but John said it would be in “the next couple of months.”

Since “The Child,” a young miniature version of the same species as Jedi master Yoda, appeared in the original TV show released in November, products have been emerging including shirts, puzzles and tote bags.

However, dolls and figurines haven’t been released but many are available for pre-order.

In late December, Disney’s official store has a cuddly 11-inch plush toy you can pre-order now ($24.99, one per customer) for delivery sometime in the spring. As of Tuesday, the Disney store says the toy is expected to be available by April 3, more than a month after the March 1 date listed in late December.

A Hasbro talking Baby Yoda also is scheduled to be released in May.

One reason it’s been nearly impossible to find Baby Yoda merchandise is because the directors of the show wanted to keep the character a surprise.

“Disney was nice enough to hold back the secret and the designs of the Baby Yoda character, which means that there weren’t toys available immediately,” showrunner and creator Jon Favreau told USA TODAY. “But I’ve seen the designs on the Baby Yoda dolls and toys and they’re really cool.”

Build-A-Bear’s John said they started working with Disney and Lucasfilm on bringing Baby Yoda to the chain around the first episode.
