Virgil van Dijk is back after a long injury hell and Jurgen Klopp will be looking for another title duel with the likes of champions Man City, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Norwich, meanwhile, return to the top flight after a one-season absence looking to build on a dismal showing last time out. They begin with one of the toughest tests of the season.
Klopp may be hoping that given high-profile signings by City, United and Chelsea, his Liverpool side may be able to go under the radar for the first few weeks of the season and build consistency for another crack at the title.
However, the Reds will be firm favourites to beat the Canaries today, and the pressure will be on them to make a statement for the new season.

That’s all from Carrow Road – a good win for Liverpool and goals for three of their forwards to boot!
‘Football is back’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “The crowd gave them the boost and we had to find our way into the game but we found it. Scored three good goals, it’s a good start.
“It’s different. The boys are fit but they have to get used to the feeling again of being able to go when they are exhausted. We will look fresher for longer in the next games.
“The crowd was great, a great atmosphere. I hope that Norwich celebrate as well, they had a great season and a good team, a tricky pre-season. Facing us is not too easy either.
“We were professional, that’s what I wanted to see, a result to set the basis for our season. Football is back.”
‘I was pleased with our maturity’
Norwich boss Daniel Farke on Sky Sports: “It was great to have the fans back. In general I have many compliments for my lads, we have so many odds against us.
“We have had to cancel two friendlies, had 10 first-team players out but we had the power and energy for 65 minutes. In the end it was a deserved win for Liverpool.
“I was pleased with our reaction and maturity. I was hoping for a good performance, I am pleased. We had players who have been out for so long but we accept the loss.”
‘I need games’
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk: “It’s amazing to be back if I’m honest. It was a tough game for many reasons but we made it difficult for ourselves at times. We have to do better. But you can’t be negative, I am happy to be back out there again helping the boys.
“I need games. The manager knows it, I know it, it’s time to recover now. It’s repetition of normal habits I need to get into, this was another big step. Mentally it’s tough being out, you go from one day being fit to the next day you can’t walk. Because of pain you can’t sleep.
“We were struggling last year with injuries in key positions. We couldn’t play our game the way we wanted to. This season hopefully we can all stay fit.”
Norwich defender Ben Gibson to Sky Sports: “It was great to have the fans back, it’s my first experience of them here and they were unbelievable from start to finish. We’ll need them this season.
“It’s fine margins, we played well for large parts. We were brave and we got punished on a few occasions. You are playing against some of the best players in the world. We stick to our principles.”
Massive noise from the away end as Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk lead the Liverpool squad over to the fans. It’s been 18 months and a title win and defence since they’ve heard that.
All over – Norwich 0-3 Liverpool
Another comfortable win for one of the favourites in the Premier League.
HOW has that stayed out? Not sure how Norwich haven’t scored to be honest! Alisson made a good save from a deep cross but Norwich really should have put that in.
Ben Gibson had the first attempt.
Norwich send on two forwards – Josh Sargent makes his debut while Adam Idah also gets on.
